Latin Dance: An Exploration of the World and Yourself
I have a plethora of hobbies, but dance will always be my true love and passion. I love immersing myself into the music and freely moving my body to the beat of the song. Sometimes I’ll even get a high euphoric feeling when I go out social dancing or perform.
So with that, I want you all to share in my love of dance, so I have created a series of articles and videos on ”Dance: An Exploration of the World and Yourself” to inspire and educate you on the amazing dance genres that exist!
Introduction to Latin Dancing
When I learned how to Latin partner dance almost 2 years, I felt like I entered a whole new world! And I did! Latin dancing is its own community with SO MANY classes and social dance events to attend each week. Additionally, as a follow, partner dancing is so exhilarating because I never know the next move my lead will have me do.
I recommend Empire Dance Studio if you live near NYC!
Different Genres of Latin Dances
SALSA
BACHATA
DEMPOW
MERENGUE
This Dominican dance is like a joyful dance embrace between salsa and a carnival fiesta. Its infectious beats and lively rhythms make it impossible not to move and groove along, as you get swept away in the captivating spirit of the dance.
(Unfortunately, I have no videos of me dancing merengue 😢)
